Dr. Roy served as co-chair of the Social Justice Action Committee (SJAC), formerly Social Justice Advisory Board (SJAB), at Cal Poly Pomona, which played a pivotal role in developing new educational initiatives for the College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS). Roy currently serves as CEIS Senator on the Cal Poly Pomona Faculty Senate.
Roy is a founding member of “The Scare Quotes” (TSQ), a coalition of BIPOC and queer ethnomusicologists who formed in response to Dr. Danielle Brown’s Open Letter on Racism in Music Studies. TSQ created a Letter in Support of Dr. Brown, which was signed by over 460 scholars, and continues to work to support anti-racist policy and practices within music studies.
Roy is also a founding member of the Queer South Asia Studies Collective, an organization devoted to the organization of queer symposia at the Annual Conference on South Asia and the promotion of queer and trans scholarship of South Asia and elsewhere through virtual meetings, publications, and performances.
